Mission Statement
Preston's Charm mission is to help people who have lost a Loved One manage some of the pain, sadness, and despair in pursuit of pleasure, happiness, and hope! In so doing it will help a person "move forward" with his or her grief in a healthier and more productive way that will also keep their loved one's Name, Spirit, and Memory alive.
Goals
Preston's Charm Grief Kit is Unique
A Charm of your Loved One is a more personal and versatile gift. A person can carry their Loved One's Charm with them anywhere they go. A person can also buy extra Charms of their Loved One and pass them from one person to another or leave it in a place for people to find it. The people who receive or find it can take the Charm on vacations, hikes, sporting events, concerts, camping, fishing, or rodeo....... The places the Charm can go and the people it can meet are limitless
If you're tired of the way our culture expects people to manage grief in the traditional way in which each day is filled with sadness, pain, and despair 24/7; and would like to find a better, healthier, and more productive way to grieve that includes moments of happiness, relief, peace, and hope, we invite you to purchase a Preston's Charm Grief Kit for your Loved One and also buy and read our book, "Preston's Charm: A Charm-ing, Healthy, and Empathic Approach to Grief."

Two years after the death of her son, Preston Bailey Hancock, Bridget Bagley was frustrated with the way she was coping with grief. She felt stuck because conventional therapy wasn’t working or offering her any solutions, so she took matters into her own hands and created Preston's Charm in 2019.
Preston's Charm has helped her cope with Preston's death and manage grief more healthily and productively.
Bridget initially made 10 Charms for Preston. She kept one and gave the others to family and friends. As the months passed, she made more of Preston's Charms and left them in places like walking trails, campgrounds, BPOE Elks Lodges, Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts, and American Legion Posts.
People who found or received Preston's Charm emailed Bridget with photos of the charm, where it was found, and sent their sympathies. They applauded Bridget for her idea of making and the passing of Preston's Charm; and also wrote inspirational messages of how Preston's Charm positively impacted their lives.
There are over 1,000 of Preston's Charms in circulation worldwide!
Preston’s Charm has traveled to every state in America, 24 countries, and 4 islands.

Preston's Charm Grief Kit is for any person who has lost a Loved One, regardless of how he or she died.
Instead of flowers, plants, basket arrangements, lanterns, lamps, wind chimes, candles, pocket crosses, oils, or bells, a personalized Charm with a photo of the Loved One provides a special, more loving, meaningful remembrance and tribute that will last a lifetime.
Keep one of your Loved One's Charms for yourself. Give the other Charms to family members, relatives, friends, and other people who are mourning the death of your Loved One. You can also leave it somewhere for a person to find it like a restaurant, bar, Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign War Post, American Legion, a tree branch on a hiking trail, campground, a battleship, a cruise ship, monuments, business signs, public gardens, museums, military memorials, park benches, gates of historic sites, museums, on trail posts, elevators, buses, on top of large rocks, attached it to a bobber and dropped it in a river, or any special place that bring comfort. Be as creative as you like.
Now, imagine your Loved One’s spirit in the form of the Charm meeting people, accompanying them to events like parties, concerts, weddings, NASCAR, football, baseball, and basketball games, traveling with them on hikes, cruise ships, airplanes, or vacations to countries all over the world.
We encourage you to experience the “Spiritual Power” of the Charm that other people have felt after sharing it with others, even strangers.
On December 26, 2021, while I was traveling across the USA in my RV, I received Preston's Charm from Tammy and Junior A. during his visit to an Elks Lodge in Key West, Florida. Tammy and Junior found and picked up Preston's Charm five months earlier at the VFW in Deadwood, South Dakota where it was left by one of Bridget's friends, Jeff M. (In the photo are Hogan, Tammy, and Junior.)
After Bridget mailed Hogan more of Preston's Charms, he visited and left one of Preston's Charms at an Elks Lodge in every state except Hawaii and wrote Preston's and his name in the guest book of each Elks Lodge he visited. He also gave them to people he met along the way. Some of them have stories in the book.
One year after Hogan received Preston’s Charm his son, Wesley Jordan Hilling, passed away at age 33 due to medical complications. Wesley was born with a genetic disorder called Angolan’s Syndrome, disabled and needed 24/7 care. After Bridget made a Charm for Wesley, Hogan traveled around the world with Preston's Charm and left one of them in Dubai, India, Vietnam, and Taiwan. He also left some of Wesley's ashes in the South China Sea while visiting Vietnam. Hogan shares his story in Preston’s Charm book. He reveals how carrying Preston's Charm that first year has helped him manage the grief of losing Wesley in a healthier and productive way.
Seattle resident Ashley K. traveled with Preston’s Charm to Wisconsin to attend a wedding with it. At the reception, she shared Preston’s Charm story with the bride and groom and asked them to take a photo with it.
Mark L., found Preston’s Charm at Dolores Point in Colorado. It is a popular tourist destination. After Mark picked it up near a historic cabin, he attached it to the passenger side of the plane that he owns. Now Preston's Charm travels with him wherever he flies.
Army Sergeant Charlie L., traveled with Preston’s charm to Iraq and raised it along with the American flag on the tallest flagpole in the Middle East.
Emilee W., attached Preston’s Charm to her backpack and finished the last 800 miles with it by her side. Then she left it on the northern terminus of the Arizona Trail for another person to find it.
Mark O., carried Preston's Charm with him during an off-road snowmobile adventure along the continental divide and then to Whitefish, Montana.
Brice B., Army MP, found Preston’s Charm while elk hunting in Happy Jack, Arizona. He kept it with him during his hunt and killed and tagged a bull elk.
I received Preston's Charm from Hogan. I am deeply touched by the tribute you made to your son by passing these charms out for people from all over to know and remember him. Your idea of a traveling remembrance for your son, Preston, is such a heartwarming idea. Carrying Preston’s Charm has been very comforting. I carry it with me in my wallet (alongside my rosary beads) until I find the space or the person worthy to receive it. I think about him and Bridget often.
Shirley W.’s son, Logan, passed of medical complications a few days before his 28th birthday in 2017.
I received Preston's Charm from Hogan. Preston’s Charm has made me feel better and it has brought me good luck. My daughter accidentally threw away an envelope with a fifty-dollar bill. I went down to look through the nasty dumpster full of trash. It was sticking out like a sore thumb it was amazing how fast I found an envelope in a full-size dumpster. Thanks, Preston for helping me find it. I will hold on to Preston’s Charm and tell the story for a while until my healing process gets a little easier. When I come across the right person I will pass it on.
Corey T. lost two of his children. His daughter, Autumn was 3 months old when she passed of medical complications. Eleven years later on March 7, 2022, his oldest son, Corey Jr. was 20 years old when he passed from a fentanyl overdose.
Thank you Bridget for sending me Preston's Charm. Preston’s Charm represents more than just a remembrance. It has a much deeper impact on me that is truly unexplainable. It touches my soul and gives me hope that Preston is out there enjoying all of these places. It gives me a sliver of connection and hope. It also brings comfort and healing.
Charlie L. is a military veteran of 7 years. He served with Preston. Charlie left the military in 2018 shortly after Preston's passing.
I received Preston's Charm from Hogan. I'm sure Preston is proud of your sweet way of keeping people aware of who he is. I have held on to Preston’s Charm because I also lost my son. Mont IV, at an early age, and there was just something about Preston's Charm that I needed. I have a picture on my dressing table of Mont IV. I have placed Preston's Charm on the corner of his picture frame. I see them every time I sit down and throughout the day.
Gail and Dr. Mont H.’s son, Mont IV, was murdered in January 2004. His case is still unsolved. Dr. Mont and Gail H. have been married for 60 years. Dr. Mont served in the Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery and opened a family medical practice.
I found Preston’s Charm hanging on a tree branch at the Whitefish Bike Retreat where I was participating in multiple 40-mile days between campsites After I read the messages on Preston’s Charm, I thought about the friends I'd lost because Preston and I were the same age. I immediately felt connected to Preston and wanted to keep his spirit alive with me. It felt like I was meant to find it, and that felt like something I should reflect on and honor. I think it's a special bond to share, and I'm honored to have been made a part of it. What a good reminder Preston's charm is that no one is ever truly gone and that our energy remains as our memories are shared….. I attached the charm to my handlebars and he rode with me during the multiple 40-mile days between campsites.
Scott H. is a former pet shop owner. He works as a software engineer. He and his partner, Dena, enjoy biking around Portland and other areas in the USA. They are avid gardeners and enjoy spending time on DIY projects.
As I learned more about how Bridget channeled her grief through creating Preston’s Charm it made me realize there are ways to include happiness in your grief that are everlasting. I also realized that staying positive, regardless of how small these moments are will keep Jon’s spirit and legacy alive.
Learning more about Preston’s Charm and its journey inspired me to enroll my golden retriever, Finley, and me in a dog therapy program.
After Finley and I graduate, I look forward to choosing an organization where we can share smiles and joy with people, young and old alike who need help. Connecting with Bridget and Hogan has been a Godsend. Through this luck, I’ve found inspiration and friendship in two great people! Thank you Bridget for making Jonathon’s Charm Grief Kit for me!
Jolie H. is the mother of Army Sergeant Jon H.who passed away on April 12, 2020 by suicide

Frustrated that conventional therapy and methods weren’t working to manage the grief of losing her son, Preston Bailey Hancock, Bridget took matters into her own hands. Preston passed away after being hit head-on in his car by a wrong-way driver.
After Bridget realized that being angry, drinking alcohol to numb the pain and her toxic behavior was destroying relationships with her family, friends, and neighbors, she turned to her crafting skills to cope with Preston’s death. In doing so, she discovered an unconventional way to manage grief in a healthier and more productive way. One that kept Preston’s spirit and memory alive and more importantly inspired people to practice empathy for Preston, Bridget, and her family.
In 2019, she designed a piece of jewelry and attached it to a business-size card with Preston’s photo, a poem, instructions on what to do when a person receives or finds Preston’s Charm and Bridget’s email address. She named it Preston’s Charm and made over 1,000. With the help of her husband, Bill, and Preston’s brothers, they gave Preston’s Charm to friends and also left one in places they visited during their hikes, motorcycle rides, and vacations.
In the last four years, while the passing of Preston’s Charm has helped Bridget and her family it has also helped people who received or found Preston’s Charm manage the grief of losing a Loved One in a healthier and productive way.
Preston’s Charm has been passed from person to person and traveled to every state in America, 24 countries, and 4 islands. Some of the people who participated in the passing of Preston’s Charm share their stories in this book.
